Tesla’s flagship Model S sedan and Model X are now … less expensive thanks to a $5,000 price reduction, while the Model 3 sedan gets cheaper by $2,000. Reports indicate that these discounts might have a similar intent to other automakers’ deals offered in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

With the change, the Model S will now be priced from $76,190 for the Long Range Plus model. The Model X Long Range Plus, meanwhile, will start at $81,190. The more affordable Model 3 Standard Range Plus, with its $2,000 price drop, now starts at $39,190. All prices include a $1,200 destination fee and do not include the “potential savings” feature Tesla uses as part of the pricing on its website. It’s also worth noting that the $7,500 maximum federal EV tax credit no longer applies to Tesla models.
While prices are dropping for Tesla’s cars, CEO Elon Musk announced via Twitter — where else? — that the price to enable Tesla’s Full Self Driving feature will increase by $1,000 to $8,000 starting July 1. The feature can also be enabled after purchasing. New Model S and Model X customers also will no longer have free access to Tesla’s Supercharger network of charging stations, according to the automaker.
