Despite ample spy photos of the upcoming 2024 Acura ZDX all-electric SUV, there’s still a lot left to the imagination, and we’re particularly curious how the luxury brand tackles the packaging and design opportunities afforded to the more expansive interior of electric vehicles, which we’ve yet to see from Acura.
The new ZDX teaser proves it’s inspired by the brand’s Precision EV Concept car, and we know it will borrow Ultium motor and battery components from General Motors for its powertrain (before future Acura EVs pivot to a different platform).
We can’t deduce much from the teaser, except that it fits the bill of a modern interpretation of a luxurious but sporty Acura design language. The teaser confirms the Diamond Pentagon grille will be illuminated, and Acura promises the new EV will feature Google infotainment integration for apps and services, as well as a Bang & Olufsen premium audio setup. The teaser announcement also promises the ZDX Type S performance variant will be the “most powerful and quickest accelerating SUV” in Acura’s history.
The ZDX EV, which was designed at the Acura Design Studio in Southern California, will be revealed in full at Monterey Car Week on August 17, and go on sale officially sometime early next year. Acura’s press release also promises: “All Acura vehicles sold in America are made in the U.S., using domestic and globally sourced parts.”
