Kia’s boxy, funky Soul hatchback has always stood out in a crowd, and the 2020 Soul is no exception. It’s true that the Soul’s larger SUV sibling, the Telluride, has dominated in past weeks, but with a full redesign on an all-new platform for 2020, it looks like it’s the Soul’s time to shine. This week, it landed high on our top five lists both for most read reviews and videos.

Cars.com reviewer Fred Meier said the new Soul maintains its core aspects — quirky personality, practicality and overall value — and it’s more fun to drive than ever before.
“A revised and less buzzy 147-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder is under the hood of all Souls except the GT-Line Turbo, replacing the former base 1.6-liter and midrange 161-hp 2.0-liter,” Meier writes. “Despite fewer horses, it feels peppier around town than the old 2.0-liter thanks to quick throttle response, and it’s adequate on the freeway.”
Meier said the most fun Soul to drive is the GT-Line Turbo, which has a 201-hp, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

While it couldn’t rise above the Telluride in reviews — Kia’s all-new nameplate again takes No. 1 this week — the Soul takes the top slot in videos this week. Our First Drives of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer and 2020 Jeep Gladiator follow, creeping up into second and third place, respectively. Meanwhile, our 2019 Compact SUV Challenge is still sticking around at No. 4, and we have a newbie at No. 5: our review of the 2019 Subaru Forester.
