Express.co.uk readers have spoken of the issues they have experienced with the new fuel which was introduced in September. The new unleaded petrol, which is blended with up to 10 percent bioethanol, is said to be more environmentally friendly in terms of vehicle emissions.
Despite this, Express reader Flivoless, said: “Raising the bioethanol content to 10 percent but having to use more fuel as a consequence would appear to me to somewhat self-defeating and, therefore, a totally pointless exercise.”
Another commenter, Chris1553, claimed: “Don’t you all get it, this useless PM wants all cars off the road, and he will price us all off it to save his stupid save the planet program, gas boilers next so you all buy heat pumps that don’t work! (sic)
A third commenter said: “E10 petrol actually burns at a faster rate so lasts half as long.
“In reality this was a Government choice to bring in E10 petrol to get more money from drivers in petrol tax but falsely portray it as being a wonder fuel that’s going to help the climate.
“NOTHING will help the climate, climate change is a natural process of this planet that’s been happening for billions of years.
“The dinosaurs didn’t drive Range Rovers and fly around the world on holiday but the climate still changed.”
User CHiPs also questioned: “You wouldn’t expect a pub to water down their beer, so why should a Government get away with watering down fuel and causing damage to your engine.”
Another reader, Resonable, claimed: “E10 is one of two things, possibly both.
