It’s everything we love about the coupe sans the roof.
Touring Superleggera, the Italian coachbuilder resurrected in 2009, is returning to the Geneva Motor Show with another stunning vehicle. After introducing the Sciadipersia Coupe at the last year’s event in Switzerland, the company is now revealing its open-top version, the Sciadipersia Cabriolet. And it’s drop-dead gorgeous.
The convertible is based on the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible as the Milan-based automaker says it’s the “ideal starting point” with its specifications being “perfectly suited to the project.” The exterior lines of the Sciadipersia Cabriolet are almost identical with the shapes of the coupe variant with the only exception being, obviously, the lack of a hard top.
Touring Superleggera says that the overall look of the car is inspired by the Golden Age of Motoring with “classic and timeless design that continues to set standards.” The Cabriolet seats four passengers in four full-sized seats and rides on 20-inch wheels with 285 rear and 245 front section tires.
Under the long hood is a naturally-aspirated V8 engine with 460 horsepower (338 kilowatts) at 7,000 rpm. The Euro 6-compliable unit sends power to the rear wheels through a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox and provides an estimated 0-62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) acceleration in about five seconds. Top speed is 179 mph (288 kph).
The coachbuilder plans to produce no more than 15 examples of the model, each built entirely by hand at the company’s factory near Milan. Pricing details are not available and Touring Superleggera says it will give further information upon request. The company will need about six months to build your Sciadipersia Cabriolet after it receives the donor car.
If you were worried the transformation from a standard GranCabrio to the gorgeous Sciadipersia Cabriolet is going to cost you the factory warranty of the car, fear not as the studio promises a two-year, unlimited mileage warranty for all parts produced or modified by Touring Superleggera.
