Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) is set to launch an official pre-owned business in Q3 2019. Named Das WeltAuto, the arm aims to offer quality pre-owned vehicles with some degree of peace of mind. This was revealed at a media roundtable held in KL today, along with confirmation that the VW Arteon and Passat facelift are coming this year.
The peace of mind comes in the form of a 12-month warranty. Cars sold by Das WeltAuto would have gone through a 133-point check, too. “Rest assured, only cars that pass our stringent evaluation, with a clean, accident-free record, are approved for sale,” says VPCM in a banner ad for Das WeltAuto.
In other news, one can now buy a Volkswagen in Malaysia directly from Volkswagen AG. Somewhat. Porsche Holding Salzburg (PHS) – the largest car distributor in Europe and the entity that controls VPCM – has itself entered the retail market in Malaysia with the opening of PHS Autohaus in Puchong. In 2011, the Porsche family sold PHS to Volkswagen AG, which now fully owns the retail arm. PHS sold 743,016 new cars in 2018, employs over 30,000 staff worldwide and had a revenue of 20.4 billion euros last year.
PHS Autohaus is located on Jalan Subang 10 in Kampung Kenangan, and operations commenced on May 2.
