Enliten Tech debuts with the ID..3
Bridgestone boasted that the upcoming Volkswagen ID.3 will be fitted with its latest Turanza Eco summer tires (in 18, 19, and 20-inch variants), for the very first time equipped with Enliten Technology to improve efficiency and performance.
According to the Japanese manufacturer, the Enliten Technology is environmentally friendly as it offers “super low rolling resistance” (up to 30% lower, compared to the standard Bridgestone summer tire in the same tire size of 92Y 225/40R18 XL), as well as lower weight of up to 20% or 2 kg.
Additionally, the Enliten Technology “maximize wet and wear performance” and improves handling.
“The synergy between the unique materials used to create ENLITEN Technology and a new mixing process has enhanced the technology’s compound wear performance, without compromising on grip. This, combined with a cavity and full 3D pattern design that maximises wet and wear performance, means that ENLITEN Technology improves the vehicle’s handling to help increase driving pleasure and, in the case of the ID.3, meet all of Volkswagen’s performance targets.”
That’s the tech for which Volkswagen was looking for when developing its all-electric ID.3. The requirements were:
Bridgestone said that it “responded to all these requirements with a custom-developed Turanza tyre with ENLITEN Technology”.
Additionally, the bigger 19 and 20-inch versions will get also Bridgestone’s B-Seal technology, which allows for temporary air retention in case of a puncture in the tread area.
