ZZ Top Eliminator Coupe & McMullen Roadster in Street Rodder Booth at the 50th NSRA Nationals

By now everyone is aware that this August represents the 50th Annual NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky. It will be held at the Kentucky Exposition Center inside what is arguably the world’s greatest air-conditioned building. Inside this building are numerous manufacturers, and we’re guessing this year there will be more than ever before. I can tell you the STREET RODDER booth will be the largest it’s ever been and one of the largest exhibitor booths at the Street Rod Nationals ever.

For starters, our 60×70 booth will house somewhere around 12 to 15 cars that you will immediately recognize. These cars represent the history of STREET RODDER magazine, the history of street rodding, as well as the history of the Street Rod Nationals.

You will see the likes of Lil’ John Buttera’s famous Model A roadster … the famous “white” roadster. You’ll see Dick Megugorac’s (Magoo’s) last red roadster. You will also see the McMullen roadster, the iconic 1932 Ford highboy roadster … symbolic of what a hot rod should be. You’ll see Project X, the most iconic Tri-Five of all-time, and you’ll see the first STREET RODDER Road Tour 1933 Ford coupe, as well as this year’s Road Tour 1955 Ford.

There will be other equally famous and significant cars, including the historically significant 1933 Ford coupe belonging to Bobby Alloway; George Lange’s SpeedStar coupe, the first one of its kind; and Larry Olson’s 1933 Ford roadster. It has won America’s Most Beautiful Roadster award as well as Battle of the Builders award from the SEMA show. These cars have started trends, been featured on STREET RODDER covers, and wowed crowds from previous Nats.

But there’s going to be a couple of others that will be very special, like Fred Warren’s “Shockwave,” the winner of the 50th AMBR award at the Grand National Roadster Show. This car is clearly one of the iconic cars from our industry, a STREET RODDER cover and feature vehicle, but also the history of our hobby. But arguably one of the most famous cars of all time is the ZZ Top 1933 Eliminator coupe, which will be in the exhibit.

We are very excited to have all of these cars and we want you, the rodding public, to attend the 50th Nationals and come by the booth and see them; this once-in-a-lifetime chance to see these famous cars all in one place at one time. You’re going to want to make sure to get your photos with these cars for your scrapbook because you’ll never see them again all rounded up in one spot. SRM
