While Americans still could choose among quite a few new station wagons in 1993, the writing was on the wall that the minivan and SUV would crush the wagon soon. The RAV4 debuted here for the 1996 model year, making the 1993-1996 E100 the final Corolla offered here with a long roof.
Affection for those Country Squires and Kingswood Estates of previous decades ran strong at that time, as did respect for the reliability of the Corolla (sales of which had begun better than a quarter-century earlier). Some of these unexciting-but-sturdy E100 wagons survive to this day, out of the not-so-vast quantities sold.
