Bengaluru-based tech and electric two-wheeler start-up Ather Energy will be launching a new product, as a follow up to the company’s Ather 450 electric scooter. The new electric scooter, to be called the Ather 450X, is expected to have new features, better specifications, and more intelligent features than the Ather 450 that is currently on sale. While Ather Energy has not revealed any details about the new scooter, we expect the Ather 450X to be launched later in January 2020, and the company is expected to announce pre-orders soon.
The Ather 450 will be followed by an improved version called the Ather 450X
The current Ather 450 already is a tech-laden electric scooter, and is a sort of benchmark in Indian-made electric scooters, with its peppy performance, and use of latest technology. The Ather 450 is powered by a BLDC motor that makes 20.5 Nm of instant torque and maximum power output of 5.4 kW (around 7.2 bhp). The scooter has a claimed acceleration from 0 to 60 kmph in 3.9 seconds, and has a top speed of 80 kmph, with a range of 55-75 km on a single charge from the 2.4 kWh lithium-ion battery.
The Ather 450 uses the company’s own navigation system, and also provides ride statistics, over-the-air updates, remote diagnostics, as well as battery range and other information. The new Ather 450X is expected to feature even more features, possibly more range on a single charge and other proprietary technology, and is expected to make it the new flagship scooter from Ather Energy.
At the same time, the company is also pushing forward with its growth plan and is looking to establish a network of Ather experience centres, similar to its flagship Ather Space in Chennai and Bengaluru. As part of increasing its pan-India footprint, Ather is looking to expand its presence in cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi and Pune.
