The all-new Hyundai Santro will be launched tomorrow October 23, 2018 and is one of the biggest launches of the year so far. The new small hatchback from the Korean automaker will slot in between the aging Hyundai Eon and the popular Hyundai Grand i10 and will be going up against the likes of the Tata Tiago and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio. Bookings for the car have already opened online a few weeks ago and have already crossed 14000 units at a booking price of just Rs 11,100. We have all seen several interior and exterior pictures that have been leaked recently and before the car gets launched tomorrow, lets take a quick look at all we know about the new Hyundai Santro so far.
1. Petrol Engine
The all-new Hyundai Santro will be powered by a 1.1-litre, 4-cylinder, petrol engine. The engine will make a healthy 69 bhp of peak power and 99 Nm of peak torque.
2. CNG Option
Just like the last generation Hyundai Santro, this new gen car will also have a factory fitted CNG option. The engine remains the same, the 1.1-litre unit, but on CNG, the car will make just 59 bhp of peak power and 84 Nm of peak torque. The CNG tank will have a capacity of about 8 kg.
3. Gearbox
The all-new Hyundai Santro will get a 5-speed manual gearbox. On offer will also be a 5-speed automatic that has been developed in-house by Hyundai and not sourced from an OEM equipment maker like Magneti Marelli as used by Maruti Suzuki.
4. Fuel Economy
The petrol engine on the new Hyundai Santro will be the more popular version across the board and thus making a fuel efficient car was imperative for the Korean automaker. And according to ARAI testing, the all-new Hyundai Santro Petrol Fuel Economy is rated at 20.3 kmpl
5. Safety
The all-new Hyundai Santro will get ABS and EBD as standard on all five variants. While all variants will have a driver side airbag as standard, the fully loaded Asta variant will also have a passenger airbag. The Santro also comes with pre-tensioner seat belts all around apart from the middle seat in the rear bench that gets a standard lap belt.
6. Performance
The Hyundai Santro isn’t exactly what you would call quick but it does get a move on in the right gear. The 0-100 kmph time for the manual car is 14.5 kmpl while the same in the AMT variant takes 16.6 kmpl! The top speed for both cars is rated at 156 kmph.
7. Variants
The Hyundai Santro will get five variants. The lowest or entry level version is likely to be called the D-Lite while the subsequent variants will be called Era, Magna, Sportz and the top of the line Asta. Unlike other models in the Hyundai range, the Santro will not get an Asta (O) or an Asta+ variant with even more features. There will also bea special edition of the Santro with green exterior paint and matching green interior bits which will be available only on the Asta manual variant.

9. Competition
As we mentioned earlier, the Hyundai Santro will take on the likes of the Tata Tiago and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio in the hatchback space. However, with the launch of the new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R coming up soon, the Santro will face tough competition from that car eventually too.
