We know a Porsche Cayman GT4 RS is coming. Forget protecting the 911, forget that the GT4 is incredibly capable on track as it is. The RS version is on its way to prove that even the baby Porsche can be a serious, factory-built track rat. Thanks to new footage from Auto Addiction on YouTube, we have a better idea of what it will look like.
The video was filmed during one of the “industry pool” days on the Nürburgring, during which automakers pool together to rent the track and do development work. So before the GT4 RS enters at 3:13, you can see other hardcore cars like the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series thundering through the Green Hell.
Then comes the GT4 RS, with its aggressive, flared hood and towering, manually adjustable wing. The engine sound is unsurprisingly similar to the flat-six in the current GT4, but rumor has it that this 4.0 will get closer to 500 horsepower. That’s up from the 414 hp of the current GT4. It should also be stiffer and lighter than the standard-issue GT4, with that adjustable wing also adding to its track-day prowess.
But if that wasn’t enough spy-video track action for you, the rest of the video shows a mixed bag of metal on the ‘Ring. Everything from the Hyundai i30 Fastback N to the next-generation Mercedes S-Class is getting development time in. Leave it to Mercedes to test its flagship luxury limousine on the world’s gnarliest track.
