According to a media report, the increased preference for personal vehicles for transport due to the Coronavirus pandemic has led to a higher than expected demand for two wheelers.
It is reported that the production has been ramped up to 60-70% of pre-lockdown levels within just a month of the factories resuming operations. It is said that companies like Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor have asked their suppliers to ensure 60-70% of normal output for the month of June.
Demand for two-wheelers has been higher in rural and semi-urban areas while sales in metros have been on the lower side. It is estimated that total production for the month of June could be between 7.5 – 10 lakh units depending on how the supply chain works.
