For the second season in a row, expect a Christopher Bell versus Justin Allgaier championship battle in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. However, unlike last season, expect one of the two to close out on the title. In 2018, Allgaier won five times but failed to advance to the championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway when bad luck befell him at Texas and Phoenix in the penultimate round. Similar misfortune struck Bell, a seven-race winner, who won at Phoenix to advance but simply ran out of figurative fuel during the finale. That allowed JR Motorsports’ Tyler Reddick to rip the high side around the 1.5-mile speedway and cruise to the organization’s third championship. Bell was rumored for several NASCAR Cup Series rides this season, but Toyota decided to keep him in Xfinity until room can be found for him at Joe Gibbs Racing. Allgaier will remain in the Xfinity Series, too.
