2019 updates for Mercedes-AMG GT

No more power, but a raft of tweaks helps the GT range stay fresh for the new year

Mercedes-AMG has announced pricing and specification details for its refreshed range GT models. All variants of the GT Coupe and Roadster both feature new tailpipes, high performance LED headlights, parking sensors with front and rear view cameras and “exterior styling enhancements”.

Power remains unchanged across the line-up, so outputs from the 4.0-litre ‘hot-V’ V8s are as follows: 476hp and 465lb ft for the standard GT; 522hp and 495lb ft for the GT S; and 557hp and 502lb ft for the GT C. That means 0-62 times of 4.0, 3.8 and 3.7 seconds respectively, with top speeds of 189mph, 191mph and 197mph.

To go with their new standard kit, the cars get new standard price bumps as well. The face-lifted Coupe will cost from £104,130 OTR while the roadster will set you back a minimum of £115,730, increases of around £2,000 a piece. The GT S and C Coupes start at £117,430 and £132,630 each, with their convertible equivalents setting buyers back £129,030 and £144,230.

As usual, a range of options packages are available to help edge those numbers northward. The Premium package, exclusive to the GT C wraps most of what you’d want up into one £3,495 bundle, including electrically folding exterior mirrors, a Burmester surround sound system and a panoramic sunroof, for the Coupe only, of course.

For those looking to add a little menace to their GT, there are two options available. The £4,495 AMG Carbon Fibre package does what it says on the tin, replacing the rear diffuser, wing mirrors and front splitter with carbon fibre alternatives. The AMG Night package, meanwhile, includes the same pieces (plus the exhaust tips) in high-gloss black for the rather more palatable price of £995.

It’s very much as you were for the AMG GT range going into 2019, then, which is no bad thing. As for us, it’s the new GT Pro which we’re most looking forward to finding out more about this year…
