The third generation Hyundai i20 has been caught testing for the first time. The camouflaged test mule was spotted near Hyundai’s Sriperumbudur factory.
The overall shape of the next generation model appears to be similar to the Elite i20. The roofline gently slopes towards the rear and it has a shark fin antenna. The test car appears to be riding on multi-spoke alloy wheels and doesn’t have a rear quarter glass. Besides this, the new i20 is expected to get redesigned headlamps and tail lights.
The new i20 could get refreshed interiors with a touchscreen infotainment system and other features that are now common in this segment.
The next generation i20 could be offered with a choice of 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engine options. Reports suggest that the i20 might also get the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit that powers the Venue compact SUV.
The new Hyundai i20 will compete with the Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz, Maruti Baleno and Honda Jazz in the Indian market.
