Aston Martin Vanquish Vision Concept debuts at Geneva motor show

The Aston Martin Vanquish Vision concept was unveiled at the Geneva motor show this week. Meant to preview a production midengined supercar, it debuted amid a thick crowd claiming speed and power supremacy. Showcasing the design elements the British marque intends to use in a series production version of the car, the Vanquish Vision Concept is expected to give Aston Martin an entry into a segment previously occupied by its main competitors. Emphasizing packaging, weight and aerodynamic efficiency, this concept gives a glimpse at the ingredients Aston Martin wants to see define the marque in the next decade.

The automaker has indicated that the production car will use a version of a new twin-turbo V6 that will first be used in hybrid form in the AM-RB 003. The production version of the Vanquish will use a bonded aluminum structure, in contrast to the carbon-fiber construction used in the Valkyrie and AM-RB 003, along with an aluminum chassis.

"The Vanquish Vision Concept has a more seductive and less technical appearance than Aston Martin Valkyrie and AM-RB 003, but it’s still extreme in terms of visual gestures," said Miles Nurnberger, Aston Martin director of design. "For example, it has a very distinctive clamshell front fender, with openings so you can see through onto the tire. There's less of the negative space that defines the look of the Aston Martin Valkyrie and AM-RB 003."
