It’s been 20 years since the bathtub shape and baseball glove stitching of the Audi TT first arrived on our roads. To mark the occasion, Audi is bringing back the stitch for a 20th Anniversary Edition. Sort of.
The 20th Anniversary TT is going to be a limited edition with some details inspired by the original. Like yellow contrast stitching on the Mocassin Brown leather seats. It’s a look that Audi says is a modern interpretation of the original but really just looks like yellow contrast conventional stitches. The car will also come in just two paint colors. Aviator Gray or a US-only Nimbus Gray metallic.
The exterior trim will be gloss black, probably because the original barely had any trim to speak of so it’s hard to match that. Unique 5-spoke wheels will come in a 19-inch size. There’s also a pair of stainless exhaust tips poking out of the rear bumper, with OLED taillights that were only on the TT RS before now.
The 20th AE gets a 2.0L turbo four with 228 hp and a seven-speed dual clutch. The same as the base TT. It will be available in coupe and convertible body styles and is available now at dealers.
