A day ahead of its debut at the LA Auto Show, Audi has slipped us another teaser previewing the e-tron Gran Turismo concept, wearing some devilish-looking camouflage with a Borg cube design aesthetic. Meant to preview the production e-tron GT, the fastback sedan is expected to be Ingolstadt's version of the Porsche Taycan — also a part of the greater Volkswagen AG empire.
The production version of the e-tron GT is officially slated to use the second e-platform — the first is earmarked for the e-tron SUV — serving as the powertrain for Audi's electric performance sedan.
"The technology in this automobile was developed in collaboration with Porsche; the design and character of the e-tron GT concept are packed full of unmistakable Audi DNA," Audi said earlier this year.
The e-tron GT brings the total number of impending Audi electric models to three, the third being the e-tron Sportback concept that was previewed earlier this spring, due on sale in 2019, combining a tall ride height with a coupe-like greenhouse on an SUV-style chassis.
"The Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback use components from Audi’s modular longitudinal platform," Audi said earlier this year. "This and numerous innovative technologies primarily in the area of drive systems are giving rise to a separate product family of e-SUVs with electric quattro all-wheel drive. Fast charging with up to 150 kW and ample range suitable for long-distance journeys are benchmarks in this class."
