Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto, has said that his company will continue to object to any extension for selling BS4 two-wheeler stocks. At present, the Supreme Court is hearing a plea by Hero MotoCorp and FADA for the extension of the March 31 deadline.
In February 2020, the apex court had rejected a similar application by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), which was filed due to slowing sales and unsold BS4 inventory. According to FADA, since then, circumstances have changed due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.
According to Bajaj, the ongoing Covid-19 crisis should not be used as an excuse for an extension as it will penalise manufacturers like Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield and TVS which have managed to meet this deadline.
