The Bugatti brand may be owned and operated by the very German Volkswagen Group, but the automaker still retains a semblance of its french heritage.
The automaker is commemorating its 110th anniversary in 2019 and not surprisingly, it’s working some French pride into the celebrations.
Bugatti this week debuted the Chiron 110 Ans Bugatti – a limited edition version of the Chiron (can it really get more exclusive than owning a Chiron anyway?) with unique equipment such as a french flag on the door mirrors, a matte steel blue exterior, blue carbon fiber trim, matte black alloy wheels, a rear 110 ans Bugatti” emblem, the optional Bugatti ‘sky roof’ dual pane moonroof and “110 ans Bugatti” embroidery on the seats. A specially crafted medallion in the Chiron 110 Ans Bugatti’s center console, which is made of pure silver, also denotes the vehicle’s status as a limited edition version.
If you are wondering why the French flag is displayed backward on the door mirrors, you’re not alone. We noticed that as well, and there’s a very good reason for it. As Bugatti explains, this is also the arrangement adopted on French official vehicles, which place the colour of liberty (blue) on the inner most parts of the mirror, closer to the occupants.
“With the limited Chiron Sport ‘110 ans Bugatti’, Bugatti is ushering in the 110th anniversary of its foundation,” said Bugatti president Stephan Winkelmann. “At the same time, we are underlining our origin and our French roots in Molsheim.”
“Molsheim in the Alsace region of France is an essential element in Bugatti’s brand history and this is also where we are planning our future,” Winkelmann added.
The limited edition anniversary Bugatti Chiron is available to order now. If you have to ask how much it is..well, you know.
