Fiat Marks 120th Anniversary With Special 500, 500X, 500L

The trio will be joined in Geneva by the Panda Connected by Wind and 5-Door Tipo Sport.

It was on July 11, 1899 when Giovanni Agnelli founded Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino, and to celebrate the incoming anniversary, Fiat has prepared a trio of special editions based on the “500” range. Set to receive their debuts at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, the 500, 500X, and 500L will celebrate 120 years of Fiat courtesy of a three-in-one special edition aptly called the “120th.”

First up, the Fiat 500 120th is visually distinguishable from the rest of the 500 versions thanks to its two-tone black and white scheme, chrome strip on the hood, black roof, and copper details for the 16-inch wheels. Inside, the fabric seats are adorned by a pinstripe with black vertical stripes reserved to this model.

Fiat will sell the 500 120th as fully loaded hatchback and convertible models and with a choice between three different engines: a 1.2-liter with 69 horsepower, the 0.9-liter Twin Air rated at 85 hp, and the 1.2-liter LPG packing 69 hp.

As for the crossover (pictured below) of the trio, the Fiat 500X 120th adopts a similar “tuxedo” look to mark the first time a two-tone look is offered for the high-riding model. Full-LED headlights are part of the package, along with four available engines: 1.0 FireFly Turbo with 120 hp, 1.6 E-torq with 110 hp, 1.3 Multijet with 95 hp and 1.6 Multijet with 120 hp. Fiat is giving 500X buyers the opportunity to pick from a five- or a six-speed manual gearbox.

The Fiat 500L 120th (pictured below) follows the “tuxedo” theme and sits on two-tone 17-inch alloys exclusive to this version. It gets the usual tweaks, such as fancy seat upholstery with embroidered “500” logos, shiny black dashboard, and a generous array of kit. Power for the 500L minivan is provided by a 1.3-liter turbodiesel with 95 hp or a 1.4-liter gasoline unit of the same output. Should you need more oomph, there’s also a 1.6-liter MultiJet with 120 hp on tap. All engines come with a manual transmission, but the diesel can be optionally hooked up to a robotized gearbox.

The three Fiat 500 models will be joined in Geneva by the Tipo Sport (pictured below) serving as the hatchback’s flagship version. Developed in partnership with Mopar, the car is powered by a 1.6-liter Multijet engine producing 120 hp channeled to the road via a dual-clutch automatic transmission. It looks slightly more aggressive than the lesser Tipo versions and comes with 18-inch alloys to spice things up.

Also on stage will be a Panda Connected by Wind, a special version of the cutesy city car featuring always-on connectivity.
