Happy Friday everyone! We hope our readers in the States have recovered from their post-Thanksgiving food comas. If you’re out shopping today, we’ve got a doozy of a Forum Friday for you, perfect for perusing while you wait in line at your local Walmart or Target. With 58 pages this thread should last you the entire day. And it’s on a fun yet incredibly serious little car; drtechy’s 2012 FrankenBeetle.
Our long-term forum members probably remember when the 2012 Beetle debuted. The thread in the Car Lounge blew up with photoshops of tricked out Beetles. There were all kinds of variations of big wheels, big wings, and more than a few that resembled Porsches.
We’re not sure if VWvortex member drtechy saw that original thread, but he wasted no time modding his 2012 Turbo Beetle. In fact, you’ll see his Bug go through many iterations over the years. Wheels, dash coverings, engine mods, and suspension setups get swapped in and out. The doctor tries a whole bunch of different combos on the FrankenBeetle.
There are several things that stick out with his build: 1) The determination he has with the car. 2) His attention to detail. 3) How he has built what is perhaps the coolest modern Beetle. And get this, he’s still working on it. That’s right, it’s a never-ending quest for the doctor to build the ultimate Bug.
So as you shuffle slowly closer to the checkout at Bed Bath and Beyond to get your mom that Instapot that you know she’ll only use twice, take a look at the build thread for drtechy’s FrankenBeetle. It’ll change the way you think about these great little cars.
