As part of its India 2.0 project, the Volkswagen Group has established a new management structure in India. From January 1, 2019, Mr. Gurupratap Boparai will assume responsibilities as Managing Director, Volkswagen India. He will continue to head Skoda Auto India as Managing Director.
Mr. Pavel Richter, Technical Director of Production in the India 2.0 project will lead production responsibility for the VW Group in India. Dr. Andreas Lauermann will be moving to the Volkswagen Group by end of the year to take on new responsibilities.
The Volkswagen Group is aiming to achieve a combined market share of 5% by 2025. All future models built in India will be based on the modular transverse matrix (MQB A0-IN) platform. It is a variation of the global MQB architecture that is being developed by Skoda for the Indian market. The carmaker plans to launch the first MQB A0-IN based compact SUV in 2020.
