If introduced in the Indian market, the SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, MG Hector and many others.
Honda has unveiled a new concept SUV at the GIIAS 2021 in Indonesia. Called the RS Concept, the model previews the brand’s upcoming mid-size SUV offering.
In terms of design, the Honda RS Concept can be seen with a styling similar to its recently unveiled HR-V sibling. The concept features a sleek front grille, flanked on either side by LED headlamps. The car also features stylish alloy wheels, a dual-tone paint scheme, wrap-around LED taillights connected by a LED strip and faux skid plates at either end.
The production version of the new RS concept is expected to measure around 4.3 metres in length and will be positioned below the HR-V in the brand’s global lineup. The SUV will be offered with a 5-seater configuration.
In terms of powertrain, the new Honda RS SUV could borrow the engine from the international-spec City sedan. This comes in the form of a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with Honda’s e:HEV mild-hybrid technology. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic.
While there is no official confirmation yet, the Honda RS could make it into the Indian market as well. If introduced in the Indian market, the SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, MG Hector and many others.
