Hennessey Performance will offer a bunch of upgrades for the C8 Corvette.
Tuner Hennessey doesn’t wait for cars to technically “go on sale” before it starts planning mega upgrades, be it the Ford Raptor pickup, Dodge Challenger Hellcat or Jeep Gladiator. Hence, plans for the C8 Chevy Corvette are already in motion.
Hennessey Performance is now offering up to 1,200 hp in the new midengine Corvette, using a twin-turbo setup for the LT2 V8 along with upgraded engine internals (forged aluminum pistons, forged steel connecting rods). The HPE1200 will also incorporate an “upgraded and fortified” factory dual-clutch transmission.
Hennessey will also offer its CarbonAero carbon-fiber body kit with a front splitter, air dam and rear carbon-fiber wing. Buyers can also get brake, wheel, tire and suspension upgrades if their wallets can stand it.
We don’t think you have to spec this paint job, but you could.
“Over the past several months we have had hundreds of inquiries from C8 buyers wanting to know what we will be offering for the new Corvette,” said John Hennessey. “Thus, we created an online questionnaire and have received over 250 completed forms and getting more every day. The customers are telling us what they want and big surprise—they want more power!”
This is new, as far as we can tell. On the Hennessey site, there’s just a “register your interest” button with a yes or no checkbox. There’s a full form asking if you’ve reserved a C8, what your budget is—$5,000 to $35,000-plus—and a black box asking “how much horsepower would you like to have?” How about 2,000, John?
You could go mild with your Hennessey Corvette upgrade and add, say, 200 hp.
There are also boxes to check for what type of upgrades: exhaust, supercharger, twin-turbo, stroker motor, wheels, aero, brakes. And Hennessey also wants to know how you’d be using the car, which is actually a good question for people who want their car upgraded. Not everyone understands exactly what they need for what purpose. Those categories include car shows, drag racing, standing mile, road racing, autocross and fast street car.
So if you’re in the market, and you have a C8 on order, which we’re sure some of you do, head over hennesseyperformance.com and fill out the form. If you put a number bigger than 2,000, send a screenshot over.
