According to a media report, Hyundai has suspended development of diesel engines as it shifts its focus to more eco-friendly alternatives.
It has been reported that the company suspended development of new diesel engines from the second half of 2020. Instead of launching brand new diesel engines, Hyundai will introduce partially upgraded versions of its existing powerplants. The move comes in the wake of stricter regulations on NOX emissions.
The focus will now shift to petrol and plug-in hybrid powerplants. By 2040, Hyundai aims to capture a 10% share of the global EV market with its new Ioniq range.
