Last month, a top Hyundai designer told us that the new Venue crossover will have a “very boxy, bold, bull-doggy character.” And apparently he wasn’t kidding. These sketches reveal a bold look for the new crossover that will slot underneath the Kona.
Just like the Kona didn’t mimic the larger Tucson, the Hyundai Venue will receive its own unique design signature. It appears to have a similar grille and split-lighting theme to the Kona, but reinterpreted in a different way. The Venue’s rear end isn’t quite as squared-off as the Kia Soul’s, but it definitely looks pretty upright.
The interior sketches are even more illuminating. Here, we get a clear view of the simple dashboard design. The Venue has a central screen that sits above a row of buttons, and it features a traditional gear stalk.
The Hyundai Venue will target a buyer younger than the Kona. Hyundai says it will be the most affordable SUV model in its lineup, so expect an even lower starting price than the Kona’s $21,035. The Venue and the Kona will not sit on the same platform.
We’ll learn more on April 17 when the Venue debuts in New York. It will go on sale later this year.
