MG Motor India has taken the wraps off the Comet EV. The electric hatchback will be officially launched in the coming months.
The MG Comet EV is based on the Wuling Air EV. It will be positioned below the ZS EV and is expected to compete with the Tata Tiago EV.
The Comet EV is a 3-door micro hatchback that measures 2,974 mm in length, 1,505 mm in width, 1,640 mm in height and has a wheelbase of just 2,010 mm. The car rides on 12-inch steel wheels.
The Comet EV features a tall boy design and comes with dual projector headlamps and a charging port up front and LED lights with an LED light bar at the back. Inside, it gets dual 10.25-inch screens for the touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity and a digital instrument cluster. Some of the other features offered in the car include keyless entry, electrically adjustable ORVMs, dual airbags, rear parking sensors and a rearview camera.
The Comet EV is expected to come with an electric motor producing 41 BHP and 110 Nm. It will be powered by a 17.3 kWh battery pack offering a claimed range of 230 km. The battery can be charged from 0-100% in 7 hours or 10-80% in 5 hours.
