Le Mans really isn’t that far off, so no better opportunity to revel in a race prepped Jag…
It’s a Tuesday afternoon, which can only mean one thing: a new Petrolicious video. That’s right, PH may be back in the movie business itself, but we’re still more than partial to the unique Petrolicious blend of evocative videography and fascinating storytelling.
Particularly when the subject of said story is an XK120; even more so when it’s one of just three XK120s prepared by Jaguar to race at the 1950 24 Hours of Le Mans. But even that accolade isn’t what makes this particular car so noteworthy. As one of 242 original cars bodied in aluminium before production switched to cheaper steel, it’s been special from birth. Then came its campaigning by future Jaguar Le Mans winner Peter Walker, its period retrofitting of uprated C-Type components, and its priceless sentimental value to current keeper William Foster.
We’ll let William and the Petrolicious team take it from here, helping you to get through this afternoon with a little assistance from that glorious XK straight-six.
