Jeep Compass Trailhawk crosses the Great Indian Desert in 72 hrs

Just days following the launch of the 2022 Compass Trailhawk, Jeep has announced that the SUV has become the first to cross the Great Indian Desert.

The Compass Trailhawk covered 1,280 km from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan to Kutch, Gujarat in 72 hours. The SUV travelled through Alissar, Bikaner, Dhani, Army dunes, Small Rann, Kala Dungar, Virgin Dunes, Barner, Jaisalmer, Rann of Kutch and other unidentified routes.

Abhimanyu Alsisar, the Prince of Alsisar, undertook the 3-day journey. Jeep claims that the SUV did not traverse tarmac even once.

The 2022 Compass Trailhawk comes equipped with LED projector headlamps with LED cornering fog lamps and a new Grey Seven Slot grille. The SUV rides on 17-inch Trailhawk alloy wheels.

On the interior, the Tailhawk gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Uconnect and a 9-speaker audio system. Other features include rain-sensing wipers, a 360-degree camera and four terrain modes – Sand, Mud, Snow and Rock. The SUV also gets Dynamic Steering Torque (DST), Hill Descent Control and raised suspension, offering a wading depth of 19-inches.

The Compass Trailhawk is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 170 BHP and 350 Nm. The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and a 4-wheel drive system.
