JPJeBid – RM27 million collected from online bidding

The road transport department (JPJ) has announced that its JPJeBid online vehicle number plate bidding system has collected RM27.22 million from bids since the system’s introduction in April. So far, a total of 21 series of vehicle registration numbers have gone through the online bidding process, Bernama reports.

According to JPJ deputy director of licensing Mohd Hafiz Shamsani, the series with the highest collection has been for the ALL registration series in Perak. The series raked in RM3.38 million in revenue.

The system began as a pilot project in April with the Putrajaya FC plate series, and the new format was then adopted for serial use starting with the Federal Territory, with the VDN plate series in June. This was followed by its introduction in Kedah. It has also been rolled out in Penang, Sabah and Johor, with the bidding process unchanged from that detailed previously.

The latest state to utilise the system is Terengganu, with the TCD plate being the designated series for online bidding. According to Terengganu JPJ director Zulkarnain Yasin, the five-day bidding period for the series will be from midnight on October 3 to 11.59 pm on October 7.

He said that the highest recorded bid for a vehicle registration number in the state currently was TTB 1 at RM2,088,616. The second highest was for TAY 1 (RM242,000), followed by TBT 1 (RM240,000).
