Kia is also planning to introduce an entry-level EV in India.
Kia is gearing up to launch the EV6 – its first all-electric offering in the Indian market later this year. The carmaker has now confirmed that pre-bookings for the electric crossover will open on May 26, 2022.
The EV6 will be imported via the CBU route and is likely to be offered in a single variant. Kia is said to have allotted 100 units for the Indian market for the first year.
The EV6 is based on the Hyundai Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). It comes with two battery options – 58 kWh and 77.4 kWh, both offered in single and dual motor versions. The 58 kWh battery with the single electric motor produces 168 BHP, while the dual-motor version has a combined output of 232 BHP.
The single-motor version with the 77.4 kWh battery packs 226 BHP, while the dual-motor version produces 321 BHP. The top-of-the-line dual-motor GT variant puts out 577 BHP and 740 Nm.
Kia is also planning to introduce an entry-level EV in India. The small electric SUV is scheduled to go on sale in 2025.
