Korean giant welcomes the New Year with tech-laden Kia Stonic Mixx and Kia Picanto Wave special editions
Kia has revealed a pair of new special edition models for 2019. The Kia Stonic Mixx and Kia Picanto Wave are on sale now, adding aesthetic tweaks and extra kit.
While not specifically based on an existing model, the Stonic Mixx is priced on par with the middling 2-spec car. It uses the same 118bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, and is available with a manual or automatic gearbox.
The Mixx is marked out by its Clear White paint and contrasting orange roof. Inside, there’s unique black cloth and man-made leather seats with matching orange accents. The centre console and central infotainment screen also get bold orange trim.
Standard kit includes 17-inch wheels, air-con, privacy glass and a reversing camera, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are fitted to every model. Prices start from £18,200; the auto is £1,000 more.
The Picanto Wave (from £11,985) is said to be inspired by ‘sunny beaches and blue skies’ – boasting Celestial Blue paint and Denim-style cloth and fake leather seats. Every version uses the tried and tested 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 66bhp.
All cars get 15-inch alloy wheels, and like the Stonic, every Picanto Wave comes with air conditioning, a reversing camera and a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On top of that, buyers also get wireless phone charging and white trim dotted throughout the cabin.
Both cars are available to buy now, and every model comes with Kia’s seven-year/100,000-mile warranty.
