Lamborghini has built its first-ever bespoke racing car – because an exceptionally wealthy customer asked it to.
The one-off SC18, created by the company’s Squadra Corse motorsport wing, is naturally based on the Aventador but uses a plethora of aerodynamic modifications lifted from Lamborghini’s racing cars at various levels. The frunk area has huge, deep intakes reminiscent of those on the Huracan GT3 Evo while the wings, side vents and air scoops come from the Super Trofeo-spec Huracan.
Power comes from the heavily motorsport tech-enhanced V12 normally found in the Aventador SVJ. That means 759bhp at 8500rpm (dribble) and 531lb ft at 6750rpm. The SVJ hits 62mph in 2.8 seconds and the SC18 won’t be any slower.
On a track it should be even faster thanks to the extra grip generated by the bespoke bodywork. Lamborghini calls the downforce levels ‘extreme’. The large and beautifully formed carbonfibre rear wing has three degrees of mechanical adjustment for altering setup and balance.
Its rather sexy 20- and 21-inch wheels are wrapped in Pirelli’s P Zero Corsa track tyres from the Color [sic] Edition range, complete with coloured stripe around the sidewall. In this case it’s red, to match the gratuitous red bodywork details from nose to tail. The 12 vents in the carbonfibre engine cover are a dream to behold.
Inside it’s all black Alcantara and red stitching. Very racy. There’s also an in-built telemetry monitoring system so you can eke-out that extra few tenths back at the team garage, because, if you have this kind of money, you can afford engineers for a day or two, right?
