Land Rover is gearing up to launch the plug-in hybrid variant of the new Defender in India. Deliveries are expected to begin in the first quarter of the next fiscal. Bookings are now open.
The Defender P400e comes in a 5-door body style (110) and is available in SE, HSE, X-Dynamic HSE and X variants.
The Defender P400e is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine and a 141 BHP electric motor. The combined output is 398 BHP and 640 Nm. It comes with a 19.2 kWh lithium-ion battery which can be recharged using a 15A socket or a 7.4 kW AC wall box charger that is supplied with the vehicle. The claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration time of the plug-in hybrid variant is 5.6 seconds and it has a top speed of 209 km/h.
The Defender is also available with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 296 BHP and 400 Nm. Land Rover also offers the 3-door Defender 90 in India.
