The Mahindra Thar RWD is available in two variants AX(O) and LX, with prices starting at Rs 10.54 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra introduced an entry-level rear-wheel drive version of the Thar in January this year. It was difficult to differentiate between the 4×4 and 4×2 variants as both versions looked identical. To make things simpler for the untrained eye, the Thar RWD now gets a new ‘RWD’.
The ‘RWD’ badge is positioned on the rear fender, just like on the Thar 4×4. The latest spy images suggest that dealer dispatches of the Thar fitted with the new variant badge have already commenced.
The Thar RWD is available with two engine options. These include the D117 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 117 BHP and 300 Nm and comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The other option is the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-petrol that makes 150 BHP and 320 Nm. It is offered with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
