This semi-truck scale model can carry six of your 1:18 machines.
When you amass a really big collection of scale model cars, it’s natural to think about creative ways to display them, and Mercedes-Benz now offers an awesome option with the 1:18 Actros GigaSpace vehicle transporter. This truck would make the perfect centerpiece for your display, especially by measuring a massive 44.49 inches and weighing a hefty 22.05 pounds (10 kilograms).
This is the first time that Mercedes is offering a diecast semi-truck and trailer model together in the 1:18 scale, after previously making them in the 1:50 size. It took ten months for the company to come up with the design in partnership with modelmaking firm NZG. There are over 500 components comprising the machine.
The larger proportions let the company render the even tiny details like the controls for the trailer. The cab tips forward to check out the engine, and the doors open for a view inside the cabin. It can carry as many as six vehicles, offering a great way to display part of your collection.
Buyers can get the Actros in a black cab and the car transporter for 629.90 euros ($720 at current exchange rates). Alternatively, the silver Actros Edition 1 semi is available without the trailer for 259.90 euros ($297). If you just want the trailer without the truck for some reason, it goes for 399.90 euros ($457).
Mercedes knows that collectors might want some new 1:18 models to match their Actros, and the company has a few recently launched offerings. The GLE-Class is available in iridium silver or brilliant blue for 89.90 euros ($103). An A-Class in designo mountain grey magno or digital white is 79.90 euros ($91). The X-Class comes in bering white or kabara black for 89.90 euros ($103). The V-Class van in cavansite blue or mountain crystal white costs 99.90 euros ($114). A Mercedes-AMG GT63 Coupe in designo graphite grey magno is 109.90 euros ($126), and the E63 S in designo night black magno goes for 119.90 euros ($137).
