From Essex to the outback, sort of. It’s good to hear of British businesses doing well in these troubled times, especially good ol’ tuning businesses because they’re the closest to the PH heart. And Mountune, which as many of you will know is based in Essex, has just notified us that it’s opening up a new facility with its own dedicated Aussie website in Tasmania. This means it has a permanent base there to cope with rising demand for its tuning products in the southern hemisphere.

Don’t worry you Aussie Ford boys. There’s no mention of Mountune doing the dirty on you and producing kits for those devil cars just yet – you know, Holdens. As far as we can tell it’s sticking with upgrades for its favoured Ford models and Volkswagen Group products. The list of cars it caters for currently includes the Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Focus RS and Puma, along with the Golf GTI, Golf R and Audi S3.

David Mountain, Mountune’s founder, said: “We’re delighted to announce our formal expansion into the Asia Pacific market with our new Australian facility. Having already had a long-standing relationship with customers in the region – as well as a period where our upgrade packages were imported and endorsed by Ford AU dealers – establishing a physical base ‘down under’ was the natural next step.”

Tom Wallace, is heading things up down under, and he added, “Working with such an iconic brand with a rich history in the automotive and racing industry is a privilege. In setting up Australian operations we can improve on our overall customer experience which is paramount to our values. Building a strong fitment/support program through our dealer network strategy will also assist with these goals.” Fair dinkum fellas, and chookas.
