New teaser video of the upcoming Bentley Flying Spur gives us our clearest look yet at Crewe's new luxury limousine
Bentley has revealed our best glimpse yet at the all-new Flying Spur. Based on a similar platform to the new Continental GT, the British brand’s latest four-door limousine will make its debut on June 11 with updated looks and fresh tech.
A short video shows the Flying Spur undergoing track testing before its official release. The clip shows us that the overall shape remains similar to that of the existing car, while details such as the wide front grille, quad headlights and ‘B’ lighting signature in the rear LED units are similar to those used on the two-door Continental.

The Flying Spur will be underpinned by an extended version of the MSB platform, related to that used by the Continental GT. This allows for the integration of 48V electrification, which means that much of the tech from the coupe will be carried over to the saloon.
Such systems include active anti-roll bars, which can actively lean the car into corners to aid both comfort and grip and Bentley’s Dynamic Ride suspension system. Also featuring on a Bentley four-door for the first time will be four-wheel steering: the rear axle improves high speed stability by subtly steering in the same direction as the front; and helps low speed agility by turning in the opposite direction.
Inside, Bentley says the Flying Spur will debut a world-first: three-dimensional, quilted leather. The material is developed by the firm itself and has also been previewed by new teaser images, which show that the 3D leather will feature on the Flying Spur’s door cards.
Under the bonnet will sit a revised version of the firm’s trademark 6.0-litre W12 engine, producing 626bhp and 900Nm of torque. The cabin should receive all of the Continental GT’s fresh trinkets, such as the new 12.3-inch infotainment system headlining the rotating, three-sided panel in the dashboard.
As with the new Continental GT, a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine will also be made available, with 542bhp and 770Nm of torque. The new powertrain features a stop/start function and cylinder deactivation technology, and Bentley claims it allows its coupe to cover 500 miles on a single tank. However, we expect a reduced range for the heavier Flying Spur.
As with is predecessor, the new Flying Spur can send its power to all four wheels. However, drive is only sent to the front wheels when slip is detected – this, says Bentley, will make the new model feel more sporty to drive.
