SEMA is the venue for companies to debut their new wares—that’s not news—but for those in the muscle car, restoration, and street performance world, the SEMA Show has invited a bumper crop of very cool stuff in 2019, much of it along thematic lines—Chevy parts and accessories, in this case.
Vendors are diving deeper into OE electronics, with plug-in active suspension controllers, smart E85 tuners, and lots of electronic tools and hardware for new GM LT engines. Support for late-model engine families like the LS is booming, and that has translated into heretofore unseen levels of power production in street-type vehicles. The knock-on effect is that as stock equipment breaks, the aftermarket fills in the weak links with forged pistons, stronger transmission and driveline components, hotter ignitions, bigger superchargers/turbos, and SFI-rated driveline parts.
In the vintage realm, it was surprising to see so many products designed to retro-fy the LS engine. While typically a street rodding play, this look is trending into 1960s and 1970s muscle cars in a big way.
