The second-generation Mercedes CLA fastback has leaked online ahead of CES reveal in Las Vegas
The all-new Mercedes CLA has been leaked online ahead of its anticipated reveal at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this week. The pictures, which show the new CLA in all its glory, follow an official teaser image of the car revealed before Christmas.
The pictures show the new CLA will borrow heavily from the A-Class on which it is based, with a near-identical front end and scuplted bonnet. Like the old CLA, the sweeping roofline gives it a coupe-like appearance, despite the fact it has four doors and back seats. We don’t get a good look at the new CLA’s rear end in the four leaked images, but from the side it seems to mimic the larger CLS. What we can see is that Merc looks to have taken a familiar ‘Russian Doll’ approach to styling, gifting the CLA a similar set of LED tail-lights.

Our spy photographers previously snapped a CLA test mule undergoing winter testing, giving us a glimpse of the production car’s design before its launch in early 2019. While we’re not shown the rear in the new leaked pics, we have been given an early look at the interior. The car in these shots looks to be bathed in orange trim and matching ambient lighting, with an A-Class-inspired dashboard and identical digital dials. The car in these images clearly uses an automatic gearbox, and the same MBUX infotainment system as the A-Class.
Mercedes is yet to confirm the new CLA’s engine-range but, like the outgoing model, it’s expected to share its powertrains with the A-Class. This Mk2 model will likely have some form of mild hybrid powertrain, along with a range petrol and diesel variants, all of which will be borrowed from the recently-revised A-Class range. A hot AMG 45 variant will debut later, likely with upwards of 400bhp, leaving room for a lesser-powered AMG 35 model.
We’ll have more picutres and all the official information, following the new CLA’s reveal at CES this week.
