Porsche has confirmed it will build a crossover-inspired estate version of the all-electric Taycan from 2020
Porsche has announced it will build an all-electric estate, called the Taycan Cross Turismo, which is due to go into production next year. It was previewed by the Mission E Cross Turismo concept from the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
The new Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo will be a four-door, four-seat estate with raised suspension and rugged exterior cladding. Its shape blends lines from the Macan crossover with aspects of the Taycan saloon; the former lends its side profile and rear hatch, while the latter offers its headlamps, daytime running lights and nose.

Like the Taycan saloon, the Cross Turismo uses two permanent magnet synchronous motors with a system output of more than 600bhp. This should allow the crossover to sprint from 0–62mph in less than 3.5 seconds, according to Porsche, making it faster than a Tesla Model X Performance.
Porsche has also promised a range of 310 miles and, thanks to its 800-volt architecture, the Taycan Cross Turismo should be able to charge from flat in just 15 minutes.
The Cross Turismo concept car featured plenty of practical features, such as flat-folding seats for help when loading longer items, plus rails and straps in the boot for tying down loose bags or luggage.
Inside, the concept featured a huge widescreen infotainment display and innovative eye-tracking controls. The latter uses a camera in the rear view mirror to detect which instruments the driver is viewing, ensuring all the important displays are brought to the foreground of the screen.
Porsche’s new infotainment display extends to the passenger side, allowing those in the front seat to operate various applications, as well as programming the sat-nav, adjusting the climate control and accessing the driver’s contact list.
