With the car now released, Toyota’s hype machine kicks back into gear…
So the new Supra has finally been launched. The best part of a decade was spent carefully honing its styling. But that hasn’t prevented Toyota from immediately hyping a forthcoming range of aftermarket bits that will permit significant embellishment of the car’s standard appearance.
Via a new sketch, the marque’s TRD subdivision has today teased the new kit, which is set to be showcased more fully by the GR Supra Performance Line Concept at next week’s Osaka motor show. Obviously details are scarce, but from the profile of the car depicted it’s safe to assume that lower, more aggressive bumpers, side skirts, splitters and the like are in store for Supra owners wishing to make their new cars their own. As is mandatory when it comes to these things, there’s also a bloody great wing stuck on the back for good measure.
There are bound to be some performance enhancing bits too, with revised chassis settings, exhaust set-ups, brakes, dampers, strut braces and the like all expected to be made available. Whether the fresh options will help the new car live up to the tuner legend written by its predecessor remains to be seen. But there isn’t long to wait to find out how they’re received; that Osaka reveal is set for February 9th. Count us intrigued.
