A test mule of the next-generation Mahindra Thar equipped with an automatic transmission has been spied testing for the first time.
A 6-speed automatic gearbox is likely to be offered as an option with a diesel engine, which could be a BS6-compliant 2.2-litre unit. Additionally, the new Thar is also expected to come with a 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine. Both engines could get a 6-speed manual transmission as standard.
The next-generation Thar is expected to be larger than the outgoing model but is expected to retain its classic styling. Moreover, spy images have revealed that the car is likely to get LED tail lights and is expected to be offered with hard top and soft top options.
The automatic variant seen in this video appears to have an all-black interior. It has a multi-function steering wheel and a twin-dial instrument cluster with an MID in the centre. The car also has cruise control.
