Volkswagen has just priced the fresh-for-2021 Atlas crossover. With updated styling, interior upgrades, and some new technology options comes, well, the same starting price as before. The Chattanooga-built SUV starts from $31,545 plus destination.
Like before, the Atlas comes with a 276 hp V6 and a 235 hp turbo-four, both paired with an eight-speed automatic. New this time, the 2.0T can be had with 4Motion all-wheel drive, and the small engine is now also available on the top trim levels for those who want extra features without extra grunt (and fuel consumption).
The new nose and tail of the Atlas increase the overall length by three inches, but it’s really just more bumper and grille rather than an increase in usable space. New head and tail lamps with LED lighting standard change the lighting signature and it gets a Cross Sport-like new three-bar grille.
Inside, Atlas gets a new steering wheel for 2021, available contrast stitching on the leather seats and door trim, and the 8.0-inch infotainment system is now on all but the base S trims. All get next-gen Car-Net telematics and in-car Wi-Fi capability plus active safety aids like forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear traffic alert.
The eight trims of 2021 Volkswagen Atlas are expected to start showing up at dealers.
