The Renault K-ZE concept was first showcased at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. Patent images of the Kwid-based electric vehicle (EV) have now surfaced online.
According to the leaked images, the Kwid EV is likely to get a redesigned front end, where the conventional grille has been replaced by a black insert that appears to have chrome surrounds. It might get 3-pod LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. The car has a dual-tone front bumper with quad vents on either side and a trapezoidal air dam. The Kwid EV has black trim around the wheel arches and on the door panels. At the rear, the car has wraparound tail lights and a dual-tone bumper. It could get redesigned alloy wheels as well.
Reports suggest that the electric powertrain for the Kwid EV is being developed in collaboration with Dongfeng under the eGT New Energy Automotive joint venture company. Details about the powertrain are still unknown, however it is expected to offer a maximum range of 250 km on a single charge.
The Renault Kwid EV is likely to be launched in the Chinese market later this year. It will be built at Dongfeng’s facility in Shiyan, China. Renault might debut the model in India around 2022.
