While Volkswagen has been teasing the eighth generation of the Golf, there has been some confusion about when the car would actually be revealed. Now, Carscoops reports that it will definitely not happen at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
Initially slated for a reveal at Germany’s biggest car show, reports through the summer have indicated that VW wanted to keep the focus at Frankfurt on the ID.3, the first car designed on its brand new EV-only chassis.
“The new Golf will not be presented at the IAA, there will be another event soon”, a Volkswagen spokesperson told Carscoops.
Just where or when that will be remains a mystery. However, all indications suggest that VW won’t wait long to reveal the new Golf. With sales expected to begin before Christmas, the brand promised that “new Golf will be celebrating its world premiere in autumn 2019,” in a press release published on August 28.
As for the ID.3, Volkswagen is hosting a “Group Night” on September 9, where the first images and information about the new car will likely be revealed. You’ll be able to watch the event live on Monday by following this link. Until then, you can enjoy the corporate jazz playing on a loop.
