Royal Enfield has recalled the Himalayan, Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 for a braking system issue. At present, only bikes sold in the UK, Europe and Korea have been recalled.
According to Royal Enfield, long-term exposure to riding on roads treated with salts during winters is said to be causing the brake caliper to corrode over time. The corrosion could damage the brake caliper piston bore and assemblies, which could cause the brakes to not function properly.
The said bikes sold in aforementioned markets will be inspected and cleaned. The part will be replaced if required. The caliper assemblies will be replaced with the improved part before the end of this year.
