According to a media report, Honda is likely to unveil the seventh-generation City in Thailand by the year end.
Reports suggest that the new City could borrow design cues from the Accord and Insight. The car is likely to feature updated interiors as well.
Honda is rumoured to offer a new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine on the next-gen City. The 12-valve engine could have a compression ratio of 10:1 and a peak torque of 200 Nm. Transmission options might include a 6-speed manual or CVT. There are also reports of the new City getting a 1.5-litre, petrol-hybrid powertrain featuring two electric motors.
Whether these engines will be offered on the India-spec City needs to be seen. Currently, Honda offers a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 118 BHP and 145 Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel that makes 98 BHP and 200 Nm of torque.
The seventh-generation Honda City is expected to arrive in India in 2020 as a fifth-generation model.
